Traditional Absinthe Sugar Cube Holder, with 200 Sugar Packets

SKU: 1500-SUGAR
€82,98

This is an exact reproduction of an antique sugar cube holder used to hold sugar in preparing a traditional French or Swiss absinthe. Every detail has been meticulously replicated from the original, from the waves in the mouth-blown glass to the beading on the base and stem. The lid is topped with an acorn, associated with good luck and prosperity.

After absinthe was banned in France in 1915, the holders soon became no longer regarded as a specific item linked to absinthe. Once used in bars, they became containers for storing various other items. Because they continued to be used in other ways, most would eventually break and be discarded. Very few have remained intact with their original glass., which is why finding one with its original glass bowl intact is quite rare.

Includes 200 wrapped sugar cubes (100 packets).
