This postcard is a reproduction of a late 19th-century advertisement for the absinthe brand Edouard Pernot. This popular print features a woman tasting her gentleman friend's absinthe. It was not until the end of the 19th century that it became socially acceptable for women to drink absinthe. Before then, advertisements had been mostly targeted towards men.
