This mouth-blown Cordon Glass is a replica of the well-known 19th-century absinthe bar glass. Many consider the glasses to be among the most sought-after and collectible of all absinthe glasses. The glass is aptly named as the band (which circles the glass and indicates the doser measuring mark), which resembles a cord (cordon in French).

When you order a drink from a bar, the bartender makes it for you. When you order an absinthe, the bartender pours the absinthe into the glass to the reservoir (the cordon). The customer then decides how much water and sugar to use to taste.

INSTRUCTIONS

An absinthe spoon is laid over the rim of the glass containing a dose of absinthe, and a sugar cube is placed atop the spoon. Cold water is slowly poured or dripped from a fountain or carafe onto the piece of sugar. The sugary water falls from the spoon into the glass, mixing with the absinthe, releasing essential oils and perfuming the air with the smell of anise, fennel, and grande wormwood. The combination of the water and anise also turns the absinthe milky white.

An absinthe is made to one's liking, so the ratio of absinthe to water varies but generally ranges from 1 part absinthe to 3 - 5 parts water.

CARE

We suggest washing the glasses before use.

Dishwasher safe.
